ASNA DataGate works directly with either the IBM i or MS SQL Server databases. DateGate provides transparent record-level access to enterprise data from .NET with superb performance, scalability, and security. Applications written to the DataGate interface can either connect to the IBM i database or to MS SQL Server with very minimal change in the code.
DataGate benefits
DataGate solves IBM i connectivity challenges. DataGate is a native i5 program object that provides effective database access down to i5 V5R4. DataGate isn’t PTF sensitive, it’s easy to install and configure, and it obeys all i5 security and authorities.
DataGate provides cross-platform .NET connectively. When connecting to your enterprise database through DataGate, the same application source code, with only very minor changes, can connect to either the IBM i or MS SQL Server. This cross-platform capability lets you easily retarget your application to one target or the other without making major application changes. This is especially powerful in application migration scenarios.
DataGate performs and scales well. On the i5 platform, DataGate is a native IBM i host server. It provides immanently scalable DB access. It is also highly scalable, making very effective use of your database server resources.
DataGate is secure. DataGate obeys all of the i5 and MS SQL Server server-imposed security and authorities and it supports service side facilities such as transactions and referential integrity.
DataGate is easy. Simply install it and it’s ready to go! You don’t have to build large, complex repositories or intermediate database definitions. With DataGate, connectivity is literally point and click.
DataGate serves developers well. In addition to enterprise support for the IBM i and MS SQL Server platforms DataGate also provides a developer database for Windows servers and desktops. This lets your developers copy data from the enterprise platform for local use. There is no need to be connected to the enterprise DB server when you develop with DataGate.
DataGate makes program calls. DataGate for the IBM i provides a superb i5 program call and DataGate for SQL Server enables your programs to easily call SQL stored procedures.
