Please note that your existing ASNA.com login credentials will not carry over. You'll need to create a new account at our new site to download products.

Adding logging to AVR Windows and Web apps
Effective application logging is one of those things that often gets overlooked completely or so done in such a duct-tape and hose- clamp way that it might as well have been overlooked.

A very challenging bug presented itself to us in an ASNA Visual RPG Web application the other day. After spending nearly an afternoon digging and poking with no results, we took the time (about 30 minutes from start to deploy) to add logging to the app. After adding a dozen or so TRACE and DEBUG statements, we quickly identified and resolved the issue.
We used NLog, a popular open source logging package available from nuget.org. This package is easy to use, produces good results, and works well with both Windows and Web applications.
Watch the full video of how we used NLog here.. Also check out the corresponding Windows and Web GitHub repos for the code.
Windows 8.1 death watch
This is a reminder that effective January 23, 2023, Windows 8.1 reaches Microsoft end-of-service and will no longer be a supported ASNA platform.
